Time flies, I feel that I just came back from Europe yesterday.
After the fantastic journey of Europe, now I am moving forward to IPOH!

It is a 4 days 3 nights journey, where we departed on 7th Feb 2015.

There is total of 40 students and 4 lecturers in this trip.
We went there by a bus and a car.
By departing from our school around 9am, before entering Ipoh,
we reached our first destination, Gopeng Heritage House around 12pm.

Entrance of Gopeng Heritage House
Gopeng Heritage House is located at 6, Jalan Sungai Itek, 31600 Gopeg, Perak.
It is only opened during weekend, from 9am to 3pm.
The building is an old shop house, and it is preserved to become a exhibition house.

Gopeng Heritage House Lobby Area
In the house, there are collections of antique and periodic items.
Like paper umbrella, bicycle, old radio, antique chandelier and more.
It's the very first generation tools, which worth to explore by youth.

Antique Counter
At the Lobby Area, there is an Antique Counter display.
It's beauty is the detail of it, such as the drawing ornaments.
There is an antique phone on the counter top.
The cabinet's carving and design is also very interesting.

Barber chair
There is a Barber shop mock up with an old barber chair.
Visitors can take photo as memory.

Tea Counter Display
Beverage Counter Display
Kitchen display
European style Living Area
The exhibits are arranged over two floors
Ground floor is about chinese furniture, ornaments and ceramics.
Upper floor is about bedrooms and sitting rooms.
The unique part of this heritage house is there are various area with different theme display.
For example the Tea counter display,
we can see counter table with many tea cups and tea pots,
and also hanging cabinet and other decoration.
The layout of the furniture, ornaments, equipment, items display for each area is very detail,
they blend and created the atmosphere.
Courtyard
There is a courtyard in the house, where greenery is planted.
It provides a natural ventilation which makes the house cool too.

Tea room
At the rear area of the house, there is a tea room where visitors can purchase tea, coffee, ice cincau, Chinese herb jelly and other items.
So besides viewing the exhibits,
visitors can sit down and enjoy a cup of tea and the retro atmosphere.

Bedroom Display
For people who are so fancy about antiques,
you may get the chance to stay overnight in Gopeng Heritage House.
The bedroom display at upper floor maybe available as overnight accommodation.
Checking with the curator is needed to see whether the rooms are available.

Souvenir Stall
Gopeng Heritage house admission is free.
They get financial support from selling souvenirs and donations from visitors.
So after touring around the house,
kindly donate or buy some souvenirs,
so that this beautiful place can be kept.

After visiting Gopeng Heritage House, we stop by at a food stall nearby to have a simple lunch.
Apam
I bought an Apam, which is a Malay cake, that cost only RM2.
It's a big piece of cake with peanuts and corn fillings.

Dining
Something happened when we are dining at the food stall.
One of my friend fed a stray dog.
After the dog got the first piece of meat from my friend,
it stays there and stare at my friend for the next piece of food.
The stall owner over there advice us not to feed the dog
as it will make the dog stay around the dining area,
which might affect the customer dining because of cleanness.

Destination 02 - Koperasi Industri Kampung Tanjung Bidara
7th FEB 2015
Entrance of Koperasi Industri Kampung Tanjung Bidara
After lunch, we took around one and half hour to reach our second destination,
Koperasi Industri Kampung Tanjung Bidara.
We reached there around 2.30pm. It is a pottery shop.
Located at Bengkel Koperasi Industri Kanpung Tanjung Bidara, 36800, Parit, Perak

Pakcik Shamsudin Abdul Majid is the owner of the shop.
They produce pottery which they called "Labu" in Malay.
The shop has been open for 30 years.
It is a family heritage business and he is the 4th generation.

Baking Oven
Working Area
Pakcik Sham explain to us about the process of making a pottery.
The process of making pots is quite time consuming.
After shaping the pot, they will put in a baking oven to bake for 2 days.

Pak Sham guiding student to mold a pot
At the workshop, we have the opportunity to try molding the pot through spinning machine.
It needs technique and it is not as easy as you see Pak sham doing it.

As molding is too difficult for newbies like us,
Pak Sham has prepared the molded pot which molded by a mold.

Molded pot
What we have to do is just refine the edges and decorate the pot with some clay.
After one hour "hard work", finally everyone completed the decoration

Drying the pot through heat from sun
After finish decorating, we have to dry our pot.
Since we have other place to visit, we can't wait the pot to be dried through the oven,
so we put our pot under the hot sun to dry it.

My pottery
Finally - IPOH
After visiting the pottery workshop, we depart to Ipoh.
We reached our hotel around 7pm.

Ipoh Boutique Hotel
Deluxe Twin
The hotel is located at Jalan Onn Jaafar, Ipoh New Town.
I got the deluxe twin room.
The environment is very cozy, clean and comfortable.
There are many shops which provide nice food nearby the hotel.
I recommend those who like to hunt for food to stay in this hotel.
Besides that, there is a Flea Market on Sunday at the street behind the hotel (Jalan Horley).
So it is a nice choice for tourist to stay in.

At night, we walked around and search for a place to have dinner in the town.
Base on a subject, Experiencing culture,
my friend and I was given a task to hunt for Ipoh's food.
So we started our food hunt!

FOOD HUNT 01 - Ong Kee Bean Sprout Chicken

Ong Kee Bean Sprout Chicken Shop
Ong kee restaurant is located at Jalan Yau Tet Shin, New Town.
The pricing is around RM16 per person by having bean sprout, chicken and noodle or rice

Menu - Chicken, Rice, Bean Sprout, Hor Fun (Flat Rice Noodle)
We ordered a plate of chicken and bean sprout.
You can choose either to eat rice noodle or chicken rice.

Bean Sprout
The bean sprout in Ipoh is famous because it is grown by using spring water.
The bean sprout in Ipoh is fat and juicy.

Chicken
The chicken is tasty with the rich flavouring of the soy sauce.

Hor Fun
Hor Fun is made from Rice.
The hor fun in Ipoh is also famous because of the water the use to make it.
Because of the limestone mountain, Ipoh is rich of spring water.
By using it to process flat rice noodle, it will be smooth and slithery.

After dinner, we went back for a good rest.
