RAPID VISUALIZATION 2

We have had a lecture during class about Rapid Visualization.

Our lecturer has showed us a video about Rapid Viz.

From the lecture, we learn about

The ELEMENT of visualizing are:

1. VISUAL (on paper) 

2. TEXT (minimal)

3. ARROW (very important!)

4. SHAPE/FORM

5. SHADOW, LINE THICKNESS

There are few things we have to bare in mind about Rapid Viz:

1. TEXT: i) Have to differentiate keywords with different font and thickness

(maximum 3 font type)

ii) Must be readable from a distance

iii) Have Hierachy

2. ARROW: Use different arrow to let viewer know that the information is in different section.

3. SKETCHES: Render the drawings but not colouring it as solid colour.

What is Rapid Viz?

After the lecture, we have to produce an A3 drawing base on what we have learnt from the lecture.

For this visualization, we are requested to visualize something we do about in Minor class.

I am trying to show the process of my first project in Minor class.

Starting from getting the brief till the final miniature.

We have to sketch it in class on an A3 paper.

I am trying to design my font for title and keywords. 

(previously I have not done it)

I have applied arrows and numbers to guide the viewer.

I have added depth to the sketches and font.

Labeling is added to highlight some activity or material.

The only thing I have done it wrongly is

I didn't determine about the title.

Instead of putting the word "MINOR PROTOTYPE CHAIR",

 I should put the name and designer of the chair 

After this lecture, I found that during designing font,

I started to have my own style of doing the Rapid Viz.

It's a good sign as designers always need show some personality in their work.

I have learnt a lot from this lecture.

I hope I can do better and better from one assignment to another.

RAPID VISUALIZATION

TASK to be done at home

Base on a passage we produce during Design3 class,

we have to visualize the information on an A2 paper.

It's about how to get idea and inspiration.

First, I summarized my one-page-A4 essay 

Then I started to think of the sketches, 

how can make people understand my visual by looking at my drawing.

After that, I come out with a layout. 

I started from the center of the paper

and the process continued in a circulation.

I have divided the process into 6 big keywords with elaborated point:

1. observe

- street

- film

2. reading

-magazine

-newspaper

3. internet

4. people around you

5.think alone

6. take a break

- meditation

- day dream

- listen to music

- have a walk

I have added shadow with grey marker.

And I tried to differentiate my title and my point.

Feedback that I get from lecturer:

I got to add more visual with different character and thickness.

My title is not designed, although it is thicker than the point, it doesn't look outstanding.

I should have a hierachy for title.

COMMUNICATION AND VIZUALISATION

First day viz com class
My friends and I were asked to sketch about our holiday on A3 paper

We are requested to produce a rapid visual sketch in one hour time.

We have to use different thickness of felt tip pen to differentiate the information.

Like TITLE should be highlighted with thicker pen,

 and  some elaboration have to be smaller and in thinner pen compare to title.

This can lead viewer to read our drawings.

This is my first try for doing sketching in such short time.

 I was a bit panic when I got this task 

because I need to think what information to be insert

and how to arrange my information

I have used some time to think about what I should do.

But after awhile, I told myself

"JUST DRAW! You will know what to do next!"

So I just carry my rough idea and start drawing.

While drawing, my brain is projecting about things I have done during my holiday

Just like a projector! haha

Since it is an A3 paper, so I can just catch the important event that I wanted to highlight.

The very first part is I enjoy being at home.

After the busy study life,

I tried to 

Sleep as much as I can!

Eat as much as I can!

Watch drama as much as I can!

Haha!

After recharging, I started going for external activity.

It is divided into three part.

1ST: JOB
I went to search for job, and I have tried 3 times only I get the one I like!

The final job I got for is teaching music at kindergarten

2ND: TRIP

I went to Genting Highland with family.

We enjoyed and have had a lot of fun there.

3RD: SHOPPING

New year is coming!

So I went out to buy clothes and meet up friends

This is the 3 most memorable thing I wanted to highlight for my life of holiday.

My feedback from lecturer about my work is

I have to add more shadow to the drawings

And also add more text with depth

This will make my board looks more interesting and have depth.

Good try for myself!

I believe I can do better next time!

THROW BACK - NEW SEMESTER! Year2, Here I come!!

3,2,1 GO!

First week of class, we started with some assignment brief and introduction

Second week, our life begins!
